The SWBG has been formed by a group of volunteers who love badgers and want to protect and promote their wellbeing and conservation. We cover the South Wealden area, which includes Crowborough, Wadhurst, Mayfield, Uckfield, Heathfield, East Hoathly, Horam, Polegate, Hailsham, Herstmonceux, Pevensey and surrounding areas, including Bexhill. We’re based in East Sussex between the West Kent Badger Group and the South Downs Badger Protection Society.
April 2025), we are currently planning the future and direction of our group. We are an affiliate of the Badger Trust. Our membership fees enable us to pay for this website, purchase insurance, cages, graspers and other equipment to help us in our work.
We are currently offering single memberships online, see the Membership link above. If you wish to join using a cheque or bank transfer we have an application HERE. In the future we intend to have monthly face to face meetings, a quarterly newsletter, and various fundraisers.
